Deity · Worship · The one deserving devotion

Root أ-ل-هـ appears 147 times in the Quran

أَلِهَ
aliha — he worshipped / devoted Verb — total devotion
إِلَه
ilāh — a god / the one worshipped This verse
اللَّه
allāh — the God (definite) الإله → الله
أُلُوهِيَّة
ulūhiyya — divinity The quality of being God
Al-Sa'di: the three names build on each other — رَبّ (He cares for you) → مَلِك (He governs you) → إِلَه (He alone deserves your worship). The logical conclusion of being cared for and governed by Allah is that He alone is worthy of worship.

The Logical Conclusion

Al-Sa'di: إِلَه follows رَبّ and مَلِك naturally. The One who created you, sustains you, and governs you — He alone deserves your worship. Tawhid al-Uluhiyya (singling out Allah in worship) is the goal of recognizing tawhid al-Rububiyya (His lordship).

🛡

Why Three Names Against the Whisper?

Ibn Kathir: the whisperer attacks your relationship with Allah — making you doubt His care (رَبّ), His authority (مَلِك), or His worthiness of worship (إِلَه). All three names directly counter all three attacks.

🔑

إِلَه — The Word of Tawhid

Al-Sa'di: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّه — there is no god but Allah. إِلَه in this verse reminds us: seeking refuge in إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ is an act of tawhid — rejecting all false protectors and turning to the only true God.
