The Day of Dīn
Al-Sa'di: الدِّين on that day means الجَزَاء — recompense and judgment. Every soul receives exactly what it earned.This is the day that gives weight to everything done in this life.

Why Here in the Surah?
Al-Sa'di: the structure is deliberate — three verses of mercy, then one verse of accountability. Mercy without accountability breeds complacency. Accountability without mercy breeds despair.The Fatiha holds both in perfect balance.

Ibn Kathir: on that Day, all kings, presidents, and owners are equal — stripped of all authority. The One who always owned everything becomes the Only One visibly owning everything.
