Root ك-ف-أ appears 5 times in the Quran

كَافَأَ
kāfaʾa — he matched / equaled Verb form
كُفُء
kufʾ — an equal / peer The noun
كَفَاءَة
kafāʾa — equality / equivalence Used in marriage compatibility
مُكَافَأَة
mukāfaʾa — a reward / match Extended form
كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ — the word order places كُفُوًا (equal) before أَحَدٌ (anyone), creating emphasis: not even a match — let alone an equal. Al-Sa'di: this verse seals the surah — after defining Allah positively (verses 1-2) and negatively (verses 3-4), nothing remains that could compare to Him.

The Perfect Seal

Al-Sa'di: the surah has a perfect structure — positive attributes (أَحَد, الصَّمَد) then negative attributes (لَمْ يَلِدْ, لَمْ يُولَدْ) then final negation of any equal. Every possible comparison is eliminated one by one.

أَحَدٌ — Used Twice

The surah opens with أَحَد (verse 1) and closes with أَحَد (verse 4). Al-Sa'di: the ring structure — He is One, and no one is His equal. Absolute uniqueness is both the opening and closing statement of the surah.

🌍

Why This Surah = Third of Quran

Al-Sa'di: the Quran's content is: who Allah is (tawhid) + what He commands (ahkam) + His stories (qasas). This surah covers tawhid completely in four verses. Reading it three times covers the Quran's primary theme in full.
